The Phantom Garden
2023
site-specific installation realised as part of the International Platform for Academic Cooperation.
Exhibition in the Sculpture Park/Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, PL
The Phantom Garden was created in a historic landscape park with valuable old-growth forest, once transitioning naturally into woodland. The work is presented near the Orangery. The Orangery was built in the second half of the 19th century to a design by Alfred Schouppé. It originally served as a winter garden. Seasonally, it was used by Józef Brandt, his students and friends as a painting studio. The proximity of the former orangery (where rare plants were collected), the history of the park, which used to be connected to the forest, and the cycle of life and death were the inspiration for the realisation of phantom ferns.
